Learning outcomes
Know the general characteristics of the aeration zone and the main water-physical properties of the rocks of the unsaturated zone; moisture categories and types of moisture capacity; methods for studying the processes of moisture and mass transfer in the unsaturated zone; mathematical models of moisture and mass transfer in the aeration zone. be able to determine the rate of infiltration by calculation and experience; to analyze the regime of infiltration recharge of groundwater by the hydrophysical method according to the data of automated regime observations; use software tools to solve problems of moisture and mass transfer in the aeration zone

Course content
Students will be introduced to the theoretical foundations of moisture transfer in the aeration zone; modes of moisture transfer, hydrophysical characteristics of soils in the aeration zone; with practical (field and laboratory) methods of hydrophysical research, incl. methods for determining the coefficients of moisture and mass transfer; assessment of natural moisture transfer factors, mass transfer parameters

Assessment methods and criteria
Control involves the implementation of individual household tasks and 2 written tests. The final assessment is conducted in the form of a written test. The results of students' learning activities are evaluated on a 100-point scale. A student is not allowed to take the final grade if he / she scored less than 40 points during the semester. During the semester the student can score from 48 to 80 points. During the test the student can get from 12 to 20 points
