Learning outcomes
PLO 1. To communicate freely on professional issues with specialists and non-specialists in national and foreign languages orally and in writing, use them to organize effective intercultural communication. PLO 10. To know the norms of the literary language and be able to apply them in practical activities. PLO 11. To know the principles, technologies and methods of creating oral and written texts of various genres and styles in the national and foreign (Persian and English) languages. PLO 12. To analyze Persian linguistic units, determine their interaction and characterize linguistic phenomena and processes that cause them. PLO 20. To demonstrate basic knowledge of translation theory, basic theoretical and practical problems of translation studies in the aspect of a specific pair of languages (Persian and Ukrainian).

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful mastering of the disciplines “Oriental language: intermediate level”, “Basics of Translation Practice”, “Basics of Translation Theory”; knowledge of the vocabulary and grammar of the Persian language to the extent of basic and intermediate levels of language proficiency; to be able to apply translation transformations in practice.
Course content
The goal of the discipline is to develop the skills of written and oral two-way Persian-Ukrainian translation of texts on everyday, socio-political, and country studies topics, as well as artistic and popular scientific texts using an active vocabulary and phraseology and free operation of grammatical forms and syntactic models. The discipline is a part of the complex discipline "Translation Practice" and has a practical orientation.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The discipline provides only practical classes, designed for active work of students in the classroom and aimed at further development of translation skills in oral and written two-way translation. Students' self-study work involves mandatory homework and translation exercises. Control from the teacher's side is carried out by means of an oral questioning and the organization of written tasks, tests, lexical dictations, modular control works.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semestral assessment is based on: oral responses, written works, lexical dictations, and translation exercises – 24/40 points, modular control works – 12/20 points. Summarizing evaluation in the form of exam is max. 40 / min. 24 points (60% of minimum required quantity); the exam is conducted in written and oral forms, and proposes: 1) ) written translation of an unfamiliar text from Persian into Ukrainian; 2) written translation of an unfamiliar text from Ukrainian into Persian. Students who scored less than 36 points in total during the semester are not allowed to take the exam.
