Prerequisites and co-requisites
to know: hypotheses of the ethno- and glottogenesis of the Slavs, the division of Slavic languages ​​into groups, the general characteristics of each group, the main characteristics of the Old Slavic language and the origins of Slavic writing; the history of scientific studies and the main sources in the field of comparative and historical study of Slavic languages. be able to: navigate the relevant scientific and reference literature, possess the theoretical and methodological apparatus of studies in these fields; to possess: skills of comparative-historical and comparative-typological analysis in a comparative-typological perspective, methods of involving extralinguistic facts to explain the peculiarities of the origin and development of Slavic languages.
Course content
The goal is to provide in-depth knowledge of the comparative study of Slavic languages, which would provide students with a solid foundation for fluency in descriptive and historical approaches to the study of Slavic languages, professional linguistic analysis of the Belarusian language among other Slavic languages, mastering the skills of using comparative techniques - historical linguistics. The subject of the academic discipline is the main problems of comparative-historical and comparative-typological research of Slavic languages ​​with special attention to Ukrainian and Belarusian languages; historical-diachronic analysis of these languages ​​from the point of view of the typology of related languages ​​and taking into account the facts of the material and spiritual history of the Slavs, their centuries-long contacts with various ethnic groups and their languages.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Practical classes, guidance of independent work and control over its implementation, individual consultations, pre-exam consultation, exam.
Assessment methods and criteria
Assessment is carried out in accordance with the planned types of work and forms of control: response to a practical lesson / performance of current tasks (2/3 p.), test with open and closed answers (3/5 p.), writing texts with preservation of language norms (2/ 3 p.), modular control work (2/5 p.). During the semester, written works are checked, individual consultations are held, and the level of assimilation of the material assigned for independent study is assessed. Content modules are completed by writing a modular test. The final assessment is conducted in the form of a comprehensive exam. The semester final grade is formed by the sum of points for all planned types of work and points received on the exam, the maximum distribution is carried out according to the algorithm: 60 points (60%) - semester control and 40 points (40%) - exam).
