Learning outcomes
PRN03. Carry out technical and economic calculations of design decisions and analyze and evaluate their effectiveness, environmental and social consequences in the short and long term. PRN04. Be able to choose and apply the most appropriate methods of mathematical modeling and optimization in the development of scientific and technical projects. PRN05. Know the molecular organization and regulation of gene expression, replication, recombination and repair, restriction and modification of genetic material in pro- and eukaryotes, the strategy of creating recombinant DNA for targeted design of biological agents. PRN06. To know and evaluate the main methods of cultivation of eukaryotic cells of animal and plant origin, to develop new technologies for their use in scientific purposes, medicine, agriculture, etc.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastering of courses "Molecular and biological bases of biotechnology", "Biochemistry", "Fundamentals of biotechnology", "Equipment of industries in the industry", "Processes and apparatus of biotechnological industries", "Anatomy and physiology of plants". 2. Be able to independently apply knowledge of biochemistry, biotechnology, etc. disciplines, perform laboratory and practical work, work with scientific and methodological literature. 3. Have basic skills in working with materials and equipment used in standard biotechnological manipulations in the laboratory.
Course content
Discipline "Biotechnology of secondary metabolites" gives an idea of the peculiarities of metabolism, the biological role of substances of secondary origin, the relationship of "secondary" and basic metabolism occurring in plant and animal objects, elucidating the characteristics of compounds, which include secondary metabolites; to form students' ideas about the peculiarities of their metabolism and use in biotechnological production of products for various purposes.
