            Prerequisites and co-requisites
        
        
            Students should know the theoretical foundations of the basic courses of English and Literary studies; be able to compare various linguistic elements, make generalizations; have practical skills of literary analysis of texts in English.
        
    
            Course content
        
        
            The purpose of the course is to familiarize Master’s students with new directions and current themes of literary studies in English; to identify and apply new approaches to solve particular educational and research problems; to develop the students’ ability to conduct their own literary research, using modern scientific methods.

            Planned learning activities and teaching methods
        
        
            Forms of studies organisation: oral answer, test, presentation. Teaching methods: lecture, practical class, independent work.
        
    
            Assessment methods and criteria
        
        
            The final mark for the course is formed as the sum of points of the current and final control. Forms of the current control include answers in practical classes (max 35/min 21), individual presentations (max 10/min 6), tests (max 15/min 9), in total max 60/min 36 (it is not allowed to take an exam with fewer than 36 points).
The form of the final control is the exam (max 40/min 24). To get a positive mark for the course an exam mark should be min 24.
