To be able to establish the nature of the relationship between the causes consequences and ways of solving geo-environmental problems. 3. To be able to analyze the negative consequences of unregulated economic activity human activity from the standpoint of geoecological approach to environmental problems. 4. To know the basic theoretical provisions of modern geoecology, the history of the formation of this science, its structure and patterns of functioning of the natural environment. 5. To know modern quantitative and qualitative methods of geoecological research, methods of research of natural and transformed landscapes, determination of standards purity of components of the natural environment, organization of geo-ecological monitoring, etc.
Course content
This academic discipline is devoted to the study of current geo-ecological problems and features functioning of geoecosystems affected by economic and other human human activity, causes of their occurrence, principles and modern methods used to solve them, as well as the formation of skills and used to solve them, as well as the formation of skills and abilities to solving basic geo-environmental problems in the plane of the subject area knowledge of Earth sciences. The discipline "Geoecology" is aimed at deepening theoretical geoecological knowledge, the formation of students' special professional, social and personal competencies, accumulation of knowledge about the possibility of critical thinking, analysis and synthesis, the ability to search, process and analyze information from various sources, the ability to identify, formulate and solve problems in the field of geoecology. Separate components of the discipline are the study of the principles and methods of increasing the sustainability and sustainable development of geoecosystems; ways to management of environmental processes in geoecosystems; principles of rational use and protection of geoecosystem components from the impact of adverse anthropogenic and technogenic factors; methods of research consequences of adverse impacts on geoecosystems. The functional block of the discipline involves mastering the following components, such as the ability to apply basic knowledge of natural sciences and information technology in design and planning activities, the ability to apply quantitative and qualitative methods of geoecosystems research, ability to to independently investigate, analyze spatial and temporal changes in geo-ecosystems for for the purposes of rational nature management and nature protection.

Assessment methods and criteria
Control is carried out by a modular rating system. In the course there are 2 content parts. Classes are conducted in the form of lectures and practical. The discipline ends with a test. - Semester assessment: the number of points that a student receives during the semester is the sum of the points obtained during the evaluation of practical works, surveys and writing module tests. Organization of evaluation: surveys in test and written form is conducted after the completion of each topic. Practical works are defended upon completion, in accordance with the schedule of practical classes. Modular control works (MCW) are conducted in test form. Students who received less than the minimum number of points for the MCW have to retake it.
