Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful completion of the course in physics, general meteorology.
2. Knowledge of theoretical foundations of meteorology, laws of physics, in particular the laws of
electromagnetic radiation, the ability to establish cause and effect
relationships between phenomena and processes occurring in the Earth-Atmosphere system.
Possession of the basic laws of solar radiation transfer in the atmosphere and in the system
Earth-Atmosphere system.
Course content
The discipline is devoted to the study of
the basic physical laws and processes that determine the transfer of solar radiation in the
the atmosphere, as well as the transfer of thermal infrared radiation in the atmosphere. The course
consists of two content modules.
The first module - "Radiation transfer in the Earth-Atmosphere system" considers
the basic laws of electromagnetic radiation and the processes of solar and
infrared radiation in the Earth-Atmosphere system.
The second module - "Greenhouse effect in the atmosphere" considers the physical
nature of the natural and anthropogenic greenhouse effect and the main causes that
causing global warming in the climate system.
