Prerequisites and co-requisites
For successful mastery of knowledge of
discipline "Geography of Ukraine" students must:
have basic knowledge of the courses of natural geography, social and economic geography,
knowledge and understanding of the basic laws of the territorial organization of society;
be able to analyze the cause and effect relationships between processes and phenomena that
lead to the formation of various natural territorial complexes; analyze
causes and assess the consequences of economic and social processes;
to possess modern methods of search and systematization of scientific documents and
primary processing of geographical information; elementary skills of analysis and synthesis of
geographical information, comparative geographical analysis.
Course content
The discipline "Geography of Ukraine" is a component of the educational and professional
program "Meteorology" for training specialists at the educational and qualification level
"Bachelor" in the field of knowledge "Natural Sciences", specialty 103 "Earth Sciences".
The discipline "Geography of Ukraine" is a discipline of students' choice and, according to the
curriculum, is taught in the fourth semester (second year) in the amount of 90 hours (3
ECTS credits), including: lectures - 18 hours, practical classes - 16 hours. During the
During the semester there are 2 content parts ("Physical Geography of Ukraine" and "Social
geography of Ukraine") and 2 thematic control works. The final semester control is
offset.
Part 1 - "Physical Geography of Ukraine" - as an integral part of the discipline
"Geography of Ukraine" includes an overview of the general features of the nature of the territory of Ukraine by
components and more detailed characteristics of regional physical and geographical units with
emphasis on the impact of differences in natural conditions on the formation of gastronomic heritage
of Ukraine.
Part 2 - "Social Geography of Ukraine" - is devoted to the study of theoretical and
methodological aspects of the territorial organization of Ukrainian society, characteristics of
spatial and temporal manifestations of the functioning of individual sectors of the economy.
During the study of the discipline "Geography of Ukraine" attention is also paid to
formation of important general and professional competencies of the bachelor - skills and abilities
plan and conduct research and report on their results, act professionally and
tolerantly in different natural, socio-economic and ethno-cultural conditions,
preserving the natural and cultural heritage of Ukraine.

Assessment methods and criteria
Students study the discipline "Geography of Ukraine" during one semester, with
this discipline is divided into two large thematic parts - the physical geography of Ukraine
and social geography of Ukraine. Within each of these parts, the level of achievement of all
planned learning outcomes is determined by organizing the current, thematic
(by thematic parts of the discipline) and final control in the form of a test.
