Successful mastery of the 1-2 year disciplines of the OP "Meteorology", namely, "Meteorology", "Atmospheric thermodynamics", "Topography with the basics of Geodesy", "Cartography", "General hydrology", "General and historical geology", "Soil and Soil Science with the basics of soil geography, Geomorphology and Paleogeography", "Climatology", "Physics", "Higher Mathematics". Know: theoretical foundations of meteorology, hydrology; geology, earth science, topography, cartography, mathematics, physics, methods of processing and analysis of meteorological information. Be able to: collect initial data for research, select and analyze information and mapping sources, have basic practical skills of collecting, analyzing materials of hydrometeorological observations, methods of information processing, to give a physical and geographical characterization of the studied territory in terms of climatic conditions,

A term paper on the methods of meteorological research methods is a type of independent scientific and practical activity of students and a kind of culmination of the courses taken. Coursework is performed on subjects that are basic in the specialty. The department develops and approves topics of term papers in accordance with the content of a particular academic discipline. A course work involves the study of a specific scientific problem with the obligatory independent scientific research and recording of its and recording its results. They can be of two types: 1) abstract - the student uses a significant amount of literature and critically analyzes and comprehends the results of scientific research of predecessors on the topic they are studying (scientific facts, theories, hypotheses, ideas, methods, system of concepts, etc,) deepening the knowledge acquired during the study of theoretical courses; 2) research - the student conducts his/her own research while performing the course work own research, independently applying the acquired knowledge of the methods of meteorological research (when conducting observations in nature; when processing of primary sources of information - statistical directories, archival and and stock sources, etc.) Students are allotted 30 hours of independent work to write the paper.
