Learning outcomes
PLO 4. To assess and analyze critically vital social, individual and professional issues and offer tactics for their resolution, in difficult and unpredictable conditions, which require the application of new approaches and forecasting. PLO 5. To find optimal ways for effective interaction in the professional community and with representatives of other professional groups at various levels. PLO 10. To collect and systematize facts of language and literature, to interpret and translate texts of various styles and genres (depending on the chosen specialization). PLO 14. To create, analyze, and edit texts of various genres and styles.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Proficiency in the German language at level C1, knowledge of the fundamentals of translation studies and intercultural communication, translation skills.
Course content
The course complements the professional training of translators and intercultural mediators. The lectures provide an in-depth understanding of diplomatic protocol and the peculiarities of working as a translator at the international level. The practical sessions focus on the development and training of translation skills in the context of international relations. During the sessions, various types of communicative situations in diplomatic discourse are discussed, and students analyze them while addressing the challenges of intercultural asymmetry between Ukraine and German-speaking countries. They also gain a deeper understanding of the specificities of translating different types of texts such as speeches, notes, invitations, negotiations, and more. Ways to overcome translation issues in various communicative situations within diplomatic discourse are discussed and explored during the course.

The course includes lectures, practical sessions, independent work, presentations, oral examinations, project work.
Assessment methods and criteria
Detailed information about assessment can be found in the course syllabus. The final semester grade is determined by the points obtained by the student in the process of completing the specified types and forms of learning, as well as the points earned for the credit assignment. The maximum distribution is done according to the following algorithm: 80 points (80%) - semester assessment and 20 points (20%) - credit assignment. Grading scale: Pass: 60-100 Fail: 0-59
