Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. To know the Ukrainian language at a level sufficient to read unadapted literary texts; to understand the specifics of the literary style of the Ukrainian language. 2. To be able to work with the text in Ukrainian: read, understand the meaning, analyze the structure, use dictionaries and other reference books to clarify the incomprehensible. 3. Successful completion of theoretical and practical courses in Ukrainian language and literature taught during the first year of study in the master's program.
Course content
The discipline gives an idea of the purpose and peculiarities of using literary works in teaching Ukrainian as a foreign language at different stages of language acquisition; introduces the basic principles of effective work with literary text: principles and technology of selection, purpose and methods of adaptation, areas of linguodidactic analysis, creation of a system of tasks aimed at removing difficulties of linguistic and country studies, lexical and grammatical and linguistic stylistic nature and development of communicative competence of foreign communicators. The discipline is aimed at improving the skills of reading and understanding Ukrainian-language literary texts, as well as at developing skills in all other types of speech activities on its basis.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Forms of study: lectures, practical classes, independent work. Teaching methods: explanation of new material, independent work with scientific literature and texts of works of fiction, conversation, discussion, independent development of tasks for fiction texts, their group discussion and testing.
Assessment methods and criteria
Oral answers, participation in the discussion, written work (selection and adaptation of a literary text; creation of a system of tasks for it), essays, and a final test. See the course program for assessment criteria for each type of assignment.
