Course content
The educational discipline "Fundamentals of natural geography" (Module 1. Geography of soils with the basics of soil science) is devoted to the study of the basic provisions of soil science, soil geography and methods of soil and plant cover research. The basics of biogeography are a component of the cycle of professional training of specialists in the field of geography, ecology, territorial management, natural resource management, cartography. Knowledge of its basic provisions is necessary for solving a wide range of tasks in nature management, nature protection, ecological monitoring, medical geography, human ecology, land cadastre, recreational geography, and others. The educational discipline provides basic knowledge about: the history of the formation and development of the Earth's organic world. Get acquainted with the features of anthropogenic changes and transformations of the organic world. Outlines ways and mechanisms of biodiversity conservation. The range of theoretical and applied problems developed by modern landscape science is highlighted, as well as the content and approaches of its individual directions - scientific (geophysics, geochemistry, landscape aesthetics, cultural, historical, anthropogenic landscape science, etc.) and applied (landscape substantiation of territorial planning, nature management projects) , environmental expertise and audit, environmental management, etc.).

Assessment methods and criteria
The course includes 2 meaningful parts. Classes are conducted in the form of lectures and practical sessions. The discipline ends with an exam. Semester evaluation: the number of points that the student receives during the semester is the sum of the points obtained during the evaluation of completed practical work, survey and execution of modular control works. Modular control works (MCR) are conducted in test form. Students who received less than the minimum prescribed number of points for the MKR will retake it. The recommended minimum for admission to the exam is 36 points. For students who scored a total of less than 36 points, writing essays is a mandatory condition for admission to the exam. The final evaluation in the form of an exam is conducted in a written format. The maximum number of points during assessment is 40, the minimum number of points added to the semester marks is 24 (60% of the maximum number of points assigned to the exam).
