Prerequisites and co-requisites
Know: - the main historical prerequisites for the formation of university education in the world; - the main stages and features of the development of educational processes in Ukrainian lands; - possess elementary skills of scientific research and information management; Be able: - characterize the peculiarities of the influence of world university traditions on the formation of the Ukrainian educational system; - to understand the essence of historical processes that influenced the development of university education in Ukrainian lands; To have elementary skills of forming independent conclusions about educational processes in the world, in Ukraine and at KNUTSH in different chronological periods, to apply in practice the knowledge gained during the study.
Course content
To give students knowledge about the history of university education, the main stages of the activity of Kyiv University in general, the Faculty of Geography and the Department of Geodesy and Cartography in particular, to facilitate the adaptation of first-year students to study at the university using modern theories and methods of researching natural and social objects and processes, observing change state of objects in space and time using a complex of interdisciplinary data. The subject of study of the academic discipline is the knowledge obtained as a result of cognition and reflection in the human mind of the objects of research conducted with the aim of studying the historical activity of the public-scientific community of the Ukrainian people and their predecessors from the time of the birth and formation of higher cartographic and geodetic education, science and production , which has its roots in the 17th–18th centuries. to the present - a set of events, phenomena, and facts of the past that provide scientifically based ideas about the trends in the formation and development of branch education, society, and the state. The educational discipline will familiarize you with the primary sources of classical education and its traditions, highlight the features of Western European university education at various stages of historical development from antiquity to the present. The main provisions included in the content: characteristics of the evolution of domestic higher education, the formation and functioning of universities on Ukrainian lands; a historical review of the process of founding and further scientific and pedagogical activity of the university in Kyiv (XIX-XXI centuries); analysis of the current situation of Taras Shevchenko KNU, the Faculty of Geography and the Department of Geodesy and Cartography, in particular, against the background of global trends in the field of higher education (cartographic education).

Assessment methods and criteria
Student evaluation forms: semester evaluation: Synopsis of primary sources: maximum. 20 points Presentation of independent research: maximum. 20 points; Written test (40 test tasks, for each of which the student can get 0.5 points): maximum 20 points. Conditions for admission to credit: the recommended minimum for admission is 36 points. For students who scored a total of less than 36 points (recommended minimum). Writing essays on missed or insufficiently mastered topics is a mandatory condition for admission to the credit. The final evaluation in the form of credit is conducted in written format. Max. the number of points during the assessment is 40, min. the number of points added to the semester points is 24 (60% of the maximum number of points allocated for credit). The final grade in the discipline consists of the points scored by the student based on the results of the semester control of the first and second parts and the points of the final test.
