Prerequisites and co-requisites
Know: - basic concepts of geographic information systems (GIS); - vector geodata, their creation, tools for their analysis and editing; - raster geodata, their creation, tools for their analysis and editing; - georeferencing and digitization of raster images; - Earth remote sensing materials and work with them; - geospatial analysis, interpolation and work with raster surfaces; - GNSS data and their processing in GIS; - digital relief models, their creation and editing. Be able to: - collect, enter and edit spatial and attributive information; - analyze geospatial data, determine and compare characteristics (coordinates, dimensions, etc.) of objects in the real world; - carry out geographical linking of raster images, formation of a mosaic of raster images; - work with coordinates and data tables, processing materials of topographic and geodetic surveying and hydrometric works in GIS; - create raster floors and select information from them;
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is the formation of systematic knowledge and practical skills of students in the field of application of geographic information systems (GIS). Mastering modern methods and ways of using tools of geospatial analysis and modeling, gaining practical experience in using GIS when working with materials of topographic and geodetic surveying, hydrometric measurements, aerial photography, data from satellite monitoring of the state of the environment, and improving the general understanding of the multi-purpose use of GIS for making management decisions and solving hydroecological problems.

Assessment methods and criteria
Conditions for admission to the exam: the recommended minimum for admission is 36 points. For students who scored a total of less than 36 points (recommended minimum), writing essays on missed or insufficiently mastered topics is a mandatory condition for admission to the exam. The final assessment is conducted in the form of an exam in a written format. The maximum number of points during the exam is 40, the minimum number of points added to semester points is 24 (60% of the maximum number of points assigned to the exam). The final grade in the discipline consists of points scored based on the results of the semester control of the first and second parts and the points of the final control paper.
