1. Know the Ukrainian language at the elementary level. 2. Be able to speak Ukrainian at the household level. 3. Have basic communication skills.

1. The purpose of the discipline - to form in foreign students the basic skills of speaking, listening, reading and listening in Ukrainian in limited communicative situations of the domestic sphere of communication, which will be an elementary basis for further study of the Ukrainian language. The course gives an initial idea of ​​the Ukrainian language: alphabet, basic rules of reading and writing, basics of grammar Students learn to read and write in Ukrainian, correctly reproduce oral speech in writing, participate in dialogue within the program topics : greetings, farewells, apologies, acquaintances, questions and answers, invitations to enter, message about the number, subtraction of the number, story about the family.

The course is delivered with the help of such activities as oral reports and written tests. The teaching methods are lectures, practical classes (seminars), creative and research projects, students’ individual work.

The course ends with an credit. Students’ performance during the term is the sum of the points accumulated for their work in classroom (oral reports, tests) and individual work. A necessary condition for obtaining a positive assessment is to score 60 points per semester, and at least 15 points must be scored for each of the tests.
