Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Know the main stages and characteristics of the historical and cultural process; basic research methods. 2. Be able to collect and interpret information about the phenomena and phenomena of future speech, build reasoning, draw rational conclusions from existing information. 3. Have basic skills in working with professional literature, information management, critical attitude to events and phenomena.
Course content
The discipline "Rhetoric" belongs to the list of disciplines of free choice of the student and is taught in the 3rd semester of the bachelor's degree. The discipline acquaints students with the subject of rhetoric, modes of public speaking, historical stages of rhetoric. The sections of rhetoric are considered, in which the stages of preparation for oratory are summarized. The speaker's strategy, types of speeches, types of preparation for the speech, topic as a set of common places, the structure of the speaker's speech, rhetorical figures and paths, ways of memorizing the material of the speech, the specifics of the speech are determined. The logos of speech are clarified through the establishment of types of argumentation in formal and informal approaches, pathos and ethos through the specifics of the relevant arguments and methods of persuasion at the level of logos, ethos and pathos.

Evaluation form (max. - 100 points, min. - 60 points): Assessment during the training period: 1. Oral answer at seminars: LO 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.5, 2.6, 3.3, 4.3. - 9/15 points. 2. Express testing: LO 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, 1.6. - 5/15 points. 3. Written assignments: LO 1.1, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3. - 12/20 points. 4. Independent work - written creative work (analysis of argumentative text): LO 2.1, 4.1, 4.3. - 7/10 points. 5. Independent work - preparation and presentation of a speech on a selected topic: LO 2.2, 2.3, 2.4, 2.5, 2.6, 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3. - 15/20 points.
