Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful completion of the course in physics, mathematics, computer science, general meteorology and applied statistics. 2. Knowledge of theoretical foundations of meteorology, atmospheric physics, mathematical statistics, ability to establish causal relationships between phenomena and processes occurring in the natural environment. Possession of basic methods of statistical analysis of meteorological information.
Course content
The discipline is devoted to the study of basic methods of statistical analysis of meteorological processes. The course consists of of two content modules. The first content module - Statistical structure of meteorological fields is devoted to the study of statistical methods for solving problems of processing meteorological information processing; interpolation and extrapolation of meteorological fields values of their consistency. The second content module - Statistical methods of analysis of meteorological processes, the main methods of parametric and nonparametric statistics are considered. statistics; spectral decomposition of stationary random process.

Assessment methods and criteria
The semester number of points is formed by the points obtained by the student in the process of mastering the material on all topics of the two content modules and performing individual tasks. Final assessment in the form of an exam: the maximum number of points at the exam is 40 points, the minimum number of points that are added to the semester points is 24 points (60% of the maximum number of points allocated for the exam). Students who have scored at least 36 points during the semester (60% of the maximum number of points allocated for semester control) are allowed to take the exam. For students who have scored during the semester a total of less points than the critical-calculated minimum - 36 points to pass the exam must re-pass the current control of knowledge (for example, in the form of testing) in the prescribed manner.
