Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastering of courses "Biochemistry", "Molecular Biology", "Biophysics", "Human and Animal Physiology", "Microbiology", "Immunology", "Virology", "General Genetics".
2. Be able to independently apply knowledge of biochemistry, molecular biology, biophysics, microbiology, etc. disciplines, conduct research, work with scientific and methodological literature.
3. Have basic skills in working with materials and equipment used in biological and clinical laboratories.
Course content
The discipline "Molecular and biological bases of pharmacology" studies the nature of reactions between drugs and biomolecules. It is part of pharmacological science, which is divided into 3 sections: theoretical, experimental and clinical. Theoretical substantiation of methods of obtaining medicinal substances, experimental confirmation of the correctly chosen direction of research - the key to successful use of these substances in the clinic. Experimental pharmacology is the link between theoretical and clinical pharmacology. It distinguishes between physiological and biochemical (quantum, molecular) pharmacology. From the standpoint of biochemistry, this discipline considers pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. Biochemical pharmacodynamics studies the mechanisms and localization of the action of drugs at the cellular, subcellular, molecular, submolecular levels.
