Learning outcomes
PRN1. Communicate freely on professional issues with specialists and non-specialists in the national, Slovenian and English languages orally and in writing, use them to organize effective intercultural communication. PRN5. Cooperate with colleagues, representatives of other cultures and religions, adherents of different political views, etc. PRN7. To understand the main problems of philology, Slavic philology and approaches to their solution using appropriate methods and innovative approaches. PRN16. To know and understand the basic concepts, theories and concepts of Slovenian linguistics and literature, to be able to apply them in professional activities.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
The program is designed for first-year students who have successfully mastered the "Introduction to Linguistics" and "Introduction to Slavic Philology" courses in the first semester. The student should know: the content of the main concepts from the Slavic linguistic field and the corresponding terms for their designation; the structure of the modern Ukrainian language and other Slavic languages; units of the structural levels of Ukrainian and other Slavic languages and the functions of these units; be able to: express one's own reasoning about certain linguistic facts and phenomena based on knowledge from the courses "Introduction to Linguistics" and "Introduction to Slavic Philology"; carry out phonetic, morphemic, morphological and syntactic analysis of units of the Ukrainian language; have basic skills of working with educational and methodological aids, searching for information in scientific sources recommended for study, analyzing and other.
Course content
The goal of the discipline is to acquaint students with the origin of the Old Slavic language, its phonetic-phonological, lexical, morphological, word-forming and syntactic systems in a comparative-historical aspect against the background of linguistic phenomena and processes of the Indo-European and Proto-Slavic periods with a projection on the relevant linguistic facts of modern words languages, primarily Ukrainian and Russian, as well as the development of skills and abilities to apply the acquired knowledge in the process of reading, commenting, translating and complex linguistic analysis of Old Slavic texts.

Educational activities during the semester: • tasks performed in the process of independent work; • answer in practical classes; • creative tasks; • participation in the discussion.
Assessment methods and criteria
• the maximum number of points during the semester is 60 points; • answer to a practical lesson, addition, performance of a creative task, participation in a discussion: RN 1.1–3.1 – max. 5 points for each of the 10 classes (evaluated depending on the completeness of the disclosure of the question and the completion of the task); • modular control work - max. 10 points. Final assessment: exam
