Learning outcomes
Know the basic terminological and conceptual apparatus of the Stone Age.
Know the methods of research and historical reconstruction of Stone Age techniques and technologies.
To know the main types of raw materials for use and consumption in stone technologies of prehistory.
To know the main technical operations and techniques used in the process of manufacturing stone products.
To know the stages and phases of stone processing in prehistory.
To be able to determine and evaluate the sequence of stages of production of stone products in the process of researching archaeological material.
Be able to determine the procedure of technological analysis.
To be able to analyze the technical behavior of an ancient master based on archaeological sources.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Requirements for choosing an academic discipline:
- before starting this course, students should know the main chronological eras and events of the pre-written history of mankind; the main achievements of the material and spiritual culture of the Stone Age;
- to be able to collect and interpret information about the main research methods in archaeology; apply the basic terminology and categorical apparatus of the educational course "Paleolithic of the Old World";
- to possess the skills of scientific research and master the basic terminological apparatus of Stone Age archaeology;
- the specificity of the program requires the use of foreign language sources.
Course content
The content of the course is divided into 2 content modules. Each content module includes lectures, seminars, independent work of students, which are completed by a rating control (test) of the level of assimilation of knowledge of the program material of the corresponding part of the course. Content module 1 (СM1) includes topics 1 - 4, content module 2 (СM2) - topics 7 - 10.

Planned educational events and teaching methods - lectures, seminars, practical classes, independent work.
Assessment methods and criteria
During the semester, the student's work is evaluated during each seminar (presentation, report, addition, participation in the discussion).
The criteria for evaluating a student's answer are:
• complete disclosure of the issue;
• the logic of presentation;
• use of basic and additional literature;
• analytical reasoning, the ability to draw conclusions.
After the completion of Content Module 1 and Content Module 2, respectively, modular control works (CW), in particular, Control Work1 and Control Work2, are conducted.
