PLO 2. Confidently speak the state and foreign languages for the implementation of written and oral communication, in particular in situations of professional and scientific communication; present research results in the state and foreign languages. PLO 5. To find the best ways of effective interaction in a professional team and with representatives of other professional groups of different levels. PLO 11 Carry out scientific analysis of linguistic, speech and literary material, interpret and structure it taking into account appropriate methodological principles, formulate generalizations based on independently processed data. Full-time form

Know: - functional styles and genres of English speech; - the basics of speech genres of academic and business discourse; - features of the use of language in English academic and business speech; - peculiarities of intercultural academic and business communication with representatives of English-speaking cultures; - basic theories of translation and their criticism: - basic translation strategies and techniques.

Aims of the discipline: To improve students' socio-cultural, linguistic and translation competencies and increase the effectiveness of academic and business communication in English by familiarizing students with the peculiarities of academic and business discourses, systematizing knowledge of linguistic means and rhetorical strategies of the English language in these discourses, developing students' skills in using linguistic means and rhetorical strategies in various situations of academic, intercultural and business communication, improving their skills in translating texts of academic and business discourses into English.

Practical exercises: round table, role-playing games; independent work, problem-based learning, report, project work, discussion, presentation of one's own position/ point of view, discussion.

Final assessment: The final assessment is conducted in the form of an exam: - The maximum number of points on the exam is 40 points, the minimum number of points (positive grade) that are added to the semester points is 24 points (60% of the maximum number of points allocated for the exam); - the exam assesses the following learning outcomes: LO 1.1 - 1.4; LO 2.1 - 2.3; LO 4.1. - the format of the exam is written and oral; the written work consists of 2 tasks (2x10 points) and an oral answer to 2 questions (the exam paper consists of four tasks, each of which is assessed with a maximum of 10 points).
