Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Knowledge of basic concepts and laws of modern economic theory, basic economic models, contradictions of transitional societies and driving forces of development.
2. Ability to think analytically, apply mathematical knowledge in the process of solving economic problems, in the analysis of economic systems.
3. Possession of basic general scientific and specific methods of economic research, economic categorical apparatus, public speaking skills.
Course content
Content section 1. General principles of socio-economic development - topics 1-10, principles of economic functioning; essence, purpose, objectives and subject of economic theory research; laws and principles of economic systems development.
Content section 2. Theoretical foundations of the economy at the micro, macro and global levels - topics 11-20, the basic principles of organization and conduct of economic activity at the micro, macro and global levels; activities of economic actors, which involves the use of efficient management methods in conditions of limited resources and aimed at maximizing the satisfaction of unlimited economic needs.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Information-traditional with elements of problem-oriented learning: lectures, seminars, independent work, consultations, abstracting English-language articles, preparation of presentations.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semester assessment: 60 points maximum / 36 points minimum:
1. Participation in seminars (theoretical discussions, case studies, presentations, reports, posing and answering additional questions) - 20 points / 12 points, including evaluation of all types of work from 1 to 5 points.
2. Test (two tests are provided during the semester) - 10 points/6 points each.
3. Preparation and defense of an independent individual task (two independent individual tasks are provided during the semester) - 10 points / 6 points each.
Final assessment in the form of an exam.
