Learning outcomes
PLO 8. Know and understand the system of the Ancient Greek, Latin and a foreign language, the general properties of literature as the art of word, the history of the Ancient Greek and Latin languages, and literature, be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities. PLO 12. Analyze language units, determine their interaction, and characterize linguistic phenomena and the underlying processes. PLO 15. Perform linguistic, literary and specific philological analysis of texts of different styles and genres in Ancient Greek and Latin. PLO 21. Possess the skills to translate texts of different styles and genres in Ancient Greek and Latin. PLO 22. Realize the role and place of classical languages and literatures in the context of the European linguistic and cultural space, in the strategies of the development of the contemporary academic paradigm and modern civilization.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
To gain basic knowledge from the courses "Latin language", "History of the Latin language", "Medieval Latin", "History of Roman literature", "Latin hermeneutics", "Latin medieval studies in the European space", skills of morphological and syntactic analysis of Latin language units and the skills of lexical-etymological and historical-cultural analysis and commenting on Latin texts.
Course content
The goal of the discipline is to master the methods and theoretical-categorical apparatus of modern neo-Latin studies; the formation of ideas about the development of Neo-Latin studies, the evolution of views and new approaches to the study of Neo-Latin heritage, the main modern problems of Neo-Latin studies, its place in the paradigm of general linguistic achievements. Abstract of the academic discipline. The course consists of two content blocks that cover the following main issues: definition, justification, principles, object of research and basic concepts of neo-Latin studies; directions and main achievements of neo-Latinist studies; current state, tasks and future prospects of neo-Latin studies; the Latin language on the territory of Ukraine in the 16th-19th centuries; Ukrainian Latin-language literature: analysis, sources; lexical-grammatical system of modern Latin; opera neolatina, translation of the original texts.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures; video materials and presentations (Microsoft Power Point); practical training; independent work (preparation of materials on a given topic).
Assessment methods and criteria
Semester assessment. The semester number of points is formed by the points received by the student in the process of learning the material from the entire educational course. The overall grade for the semester consists of points received for classroom work (oral answers, test papers, defense of a presentation, defense of a creative project) and for independent work (preparation of a presentation, creative project). All types of work for the semester have as a result: - in the maximum dimension of 100 points, - a minimum of 60 points. Final control work in the form of tests: 1.1-1.7; 2.1-2.4; 4.3-4.5 – 12/20 points. Final assessment: credit.
