Learning outcomes
PLO 6. To use knowledge on expressive, emotive, logical language means and speech techniques in order to achieve an intended pragmatic result and organize successful communication.
PLO 8. To evaluate historical achievements and the latest achievements of literary studies.
PLO 10. To collect and systematize facts of language and literature, to interpret and translate texts of various styles and genres (depending on the chosen specialization).
PLO 11. Carry out a scientific analysis of language, speech and literary material, interpret and structure it taking into account appropriate methodological principles, formulate generalizations based on independently processed data.
PLO 14. To create, analyze, and edit texts of various genres and styles.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Prior to taking this course, students must have successfully completed the following subjects of the linguistic and translation disciplinary cycle: "Communicative Practices and Translation Studies (Spanish)", "Comparative Typology of the Spanish and Ukrainian Languages", "Methodology of Organising Scientific Research with Intellectual Property Updates (Spanish)".
To be able to collect and interpret information on linguistic phenomena; to be able to identify, pose and solve problems; to plan and evaluate own work; to use interactive and multimedia tools.
To possess basic skills of scientific research and information retrieval; critical attitude to the analysed phenomena; use of foreign language professional information sources; work with cultural texts; production of complex oral and written messages; interaction and cooperation in learning in search situations.
Course content
The elective discipline "Discouse and Translation (Spanish)" is taught in the 3rd semester of the Master's programme in accordance with the curriculum of the educational and scientific programme "Spanish Studies and Translation, English". The subject of the course is the basic concepts and categories of genre theories of translation, in particular, the differentiation of the concepts of "genre", "style", "discourse" in different paradigms of linguistic knowledge, the patterns of development of discourse theory of translation and its problems, the peculiarities of comparative analysis of the systems of Ukrainian and Spanish languages in the discourse aspect. This course is part of the cycle of professionally oriented disciplines and is logically linked to the courses on communicative practices and translation studies, comparative typology of the Spanish and Ukrainian languages.

Semester assessment:
Knowledge control is carried out according to the ECTS system, which provides for a two-level assessment of the material learned, in particular, assessment of theoretical training - learning outcomes (knowledge 1.1 - 1.3), which is 40% of the total grade, and assessment of practical training - learning outcomes (skills 2.1-2.5); (communication 3.1-3.3); (autonomy and responsibility 4.1-4.5), which is 60% of the total grade.
Final assessment: written exam: ELO1.1-1.3, 2.2, 2.4, 2.5, 3.1, 4.1-4.5 - 24/40 points.
