Learning outcomes
PLO 11. Know the principles, technologies and techniques of oral and written texts of different genres and styles creation in Ukrainian, classical and a foreign language. PLO 20. Know Greek and Latin substratum of the modern academic terminology, possess the knowledge of the metalanguage of the academic description and use it in the situations of professional communication. PLO 21. Possess the skills to translate texts of different styles and genres in Ancient Greek and Latin. PLO 22. Realize the role and place of classical languages and literatures in the context of the European linguistic and cultural space, in the strategies of the development of the contemporary academic paradigm and modern civilization.

Course content
The goal of the discipline is to train philological specialists who would have the theoretical foundations and practical skills of reading, translating, analyzing and interpreting philosophical works in ancient Greek and Latin from ancient times to modern times. Abstract of the academic discipline - the discipline is designed to acquaint students with works in ancient Greek and Latin by representatives of various philosophical schools from antiquity to modern times, the basics of their teachings and terminology; consider the processes of formation of Greek-language philosophical terminology, its influence on Latin-language and the creation of original Latin-language philosophical terminology; to identify traditions in the development of European philosophical thought from antiquity to modern times.

Assessment methods and criteria
Final assessment: credit. The overall grade for the semester consists of the points received for work in the classroom (which also synthesizes independent work on the development of theoretical material for preparation for the classroom: answers to the frontal survey, performance of test tasks, report-analysis of scientific literature, speeches with abstracts or presentations) . All types of work for the semester have as a result: - in the maximum dimension of 100 points, - a minimum of 60 points. A detailed description of the forms, criteria and organization of assessment is given in the working course program, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
