Learning outcomes
PLO 2. To demonstrate an adequate level of national and foreign language mastery to perform written and spoken communication, namely in the situations of professional and scientific communication; to present the results of their studies in the national and foreign language.
PLO 6. To use knowledge on expressive, emotive, logical language means and speech techniques in order to achieve an intended pragmatic result and organize a successful communication.
PLO 10. To collect and systematize facts of language and literature and folklore to interpret and translate texts of various styles and genres (depending on the chosen specialization).
PLO 20. To understand the criteria of translator’s best practices, demonstrate competence in solving tasks in literary translation.
PLO 25.2 To know genre and stylistic and specificities of translation of poetry, prose, and drama; analyze translations and translate literary texts of poetic, prose and dramatic genres.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
To master the bachelor's educational level PLOs: to know grammar, vocabulary and phonetics of the French language within the framework of the bachelor's curriculum; to be able to translate texts of various styles and genres from Ukrainian into French and vice versa; to know the principles of language material analysis; to know the peculiarities of semantics and functioning of the linguistic units; to be able to apply linguistic tools in practice; to be able to summarize texts; to be able to listen to original messages from different perspectives; to have the skills to understand unknown words from the context; to be able to comprehend a communicative situation.
Course content
Translation of Literary and Creative Texts (French Language) belongs to the selective block of disciplines. The main goal of the course is to acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills and abilities in the field of translation of literary and creative texts. During the course, students learn the peculiarities of the translation of the mentioned texts, the application of translation techniques, as well as the further editing of artistic texts in close connection with numerous professional and non-specialist academic fields, which are referenced in the mentioned texts, within the topics, styles and temporal characteristics of the works being translated and, accordingly, edited. The discipline ends with an exam at the end of the semester.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Educational activities during the semester include:
- practical classes, independent work;
- sight translation of non-adapted texts;
- independent, test translations;
- argumentation of the choice of means of expression;
- translation and editorial comments on the completed translations.
Assessment methods and criteria
During the 3rd semester of the master's training, practical classes are held, at which evaluation is carried out in accordance with the types of work and forms of control described in clause 7.1 of the programme of the discipline. The discipline ends with an exam at the end of the semester. The final grade is formed by the points obtained by the student in the process of performing the indicated types and forms of education and obtained on the exam. The maximum distribution of points is carried out as follows: 60 points (60%) - during the semester and 40 points (40%) - during the exam.
If a student scored less than 24 points on the exam, they are not added to the semester grade, regardless of the number of points received during the semester, and only the number of points received during the semester is indicated in the column "final grade in the discipline" in the examination report.
