Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Know: types and functions of the media; rights and responsibilities of a journalist; the role, place, and functions of the journalist in the media production system; structure of the assigned on-the-job training placement, rules of internal labor regulations; the editorial policy of the relevant media and its audience; conditions of creation and distribution of media product. 2. Be able to: navigate the media content of the assigned training media organisation; work with different sources of information; collect and verify information; apply the methods of preparation of journalistic materials; organise their work following the task; analyse the work of a particular department and a whole organisation
Course content
On-the-job training for the bachelor’s degree is the compulsory component of training in the speciality 061 “Journalism”. During it, students apply their theoretical knowledge according to the needs of production process in the field of journalism. The purpose of on-the-job training is realised by consolidating skills, which were obtained during previous internship and training; the use of the acquired theoretical knowledge and journalism skills in real-life; preparation of students to work in different types of media (in the field). The on-the-job training is part of the Bachelor’s Educational and Professional Programme.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The on-the-job training lasts eight weeks following the schedule of the educational process. The schedule of the on-the-job training and the assigned placements are published on the website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Journalism: http://labs.journ.univ.kiev.ua/praktyka/mahistram.
Assessment methods and criteria
Knowledge monitoring follows a modular-rating system. During the semester, 100% of points are reserved for the independent work of students (max 80 points, min 48 points). For the final assessment in the form of differentiated credit, which includes an oral presentation of an internship summary or submission of a diary to Google Class, the student can earn a maximum of 20 points (min 12 points). The maximum score for the semester is 100 points.
