Learning outcomes
To know and understand definitions “globalization”, “globalizm”, “glocalization”, “integration”, “regionalisation”, “regionalism”, “global history”, as well as different forms and levels of integration
To know different concepts of globalization, based on a study of academic literature
To know and understand the meaning of a phenomenon of globalization and Global History, as well as interconnections between them
To know milestones in the development of Globalization Studies
To be able to characterize and explain the meaning a phenomenon of globalization and its manifestations in the present and in history
To be able to analyze the impact of transnational and supranational actors on different communities, states, regions, the world in a whole in history
Be able to work in groups (during discussions, debates, collaboration on a collective project)
To be able to express own opinion and argue verbally, based on facts and historic examples

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Students should
1. know the key historical facts, events and processes;
2. be able to assess cause-and-effect relationships, to define interconnections that shape interdependencies between/among different historic events and processes;
3. have skills of academic research, including the critical analysis of sources, monitoring, comparative analysis, identification of links/interconnections and influences/mutual influences;
4. be proficient in English
Course content
The term “globalization” is a buzz-word of the day. However, the phenomenon has numerous interpretations, and its nature needs better understanding. The discipline explores the essence of globalization as a concept, a phenomenon (processes and their outcomes), a historical period and a methodology of historical research. It covers key characteristics of the phenomenon of globalization at the different stages of historical development with a focus on the present, and its driving forces.
