Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Know: the subject, purpose, tasks of pedagogy and social work; the theory of pedagogy and social work as science and practice.
2. Be able to: work in a group, use time rationally, clearly distribute assignments in order to obtain maximum results; navigate in search engines of global computer networks, choosing terms for formulating a query and a search strategy; choose information resources according to developed or specified criteria; critically analyze the information received, highlight the most essential in it; correlate and systematize the acquired knowledge and practical experience in the discipline under study.
3. Possess elementary skills: regulators of activity and behavior in a group of young specialists.
Course content
The content is revealed in four modules. The first - “Social assistance from primitive society to the Middle Ages” examines social education and assistance in primitive society; the philanthropic period in the history of social work, the emergence of its elements; the organization of social assistance in medieval society. The second - “History of social work: from the most ancient Slavic communities to the middle of the 18th century” examines social assistance in the most ancient Slavic communities and Kievan Rus. The third - “The formation of social work as a science” examines the emergence of social work as a separate field of knowledge, the characteristics of the leading concepts of socialization of the individual; research on social work in Ukraine in the late 18th - early 20th centuries; the development of the social assistance system in Soviet Ukraine, current problems of social work at the present stage. The fourth module - "History of Ukrainian and Foreign Schools and Pedagogy" reveals the subject and tasks of the history of pedagogy as a branch of general pedagogy, the main stages of the development of pedagogy as a science..

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral responses (presentation at a seminar, participation in discussions, debates, and additional contributions): LO 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 3.1, 3.2, 4.1 – max 35 / min 21 points.
Independent study assignments (work with scientific sources, demonstration of practical skills): LO 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 3.1,, 3.2, 4.1 – max 15 / min 9 points.
Final test (MC): LO 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 3.1, 3.2, 4.1 – max 10 / min 7 points.
Form of final assessment – examination.
A mandatory condition for taking the examination is the completion of seminar sessions, practical classes, and module control tests.
The examination is conducted in written form; the exam ticket includes theoretical questions and a practical task. The maximum number of points for the examination is 40. To obtain a positive overall grade in the course, the examination score cannot be less than 24 points.

Good – 75–89
Satisfactory – 60–74
Fail – 1–59
