Prerequisites and co-requisites
1.Know: the basic concepts of pedagogy, social pedagogy, psychology; the essence of the concepts of "family" and its functions, "family upbringing", its styles and types; regulatory and legal principles for the protection of the rights of the child and family in Ukraine;
2.Be able to: analyze the family as a system, determine the needs, difficulties and resources of the family environment; establish constructive communication with parents and children.
Possess: the skills of reflecting on one's own attitudes, beliefs about the family and family upbringing; techniques of effective interpersonal communication; the basics of professional ethics in working with families.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to enable students to master the theoretical and methodological principles and practical approaches to understanding the essence, difficulties, risks and resources of family education, as well as to develop practical skills in organizing and providing socio-pedagogical and psychological support for families with children.
The subject of the academic discipline is the process, mechanisms and patterns of family education, as well as the social and psychological and pedagogical conditions for its effective implementation. The discipline consists of four parts. The first part reveals the theoretical and methodological principles of family education. The second part is devoted to the psychological and pedagogical foundations of family education. The third part analyzes the difficulties, risks and resources of family education. The fourth part characterizes the content of socio-pedagogical and psychological support for families with children.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lecture, seminar, cases, practical tasks, independent work, discussion, presentation.
Assessment methods and criteria
Assessment of applicants is carried out during all types of training sessions and based on the results of independent work.
1. Oral answers (speech at the seminar, participation in discussions, debates, additions) – 20 max / 15 min points.
2. Performance of practical work (demonstration of practical skills, work in subgroups, analysis of primary sources, presentation) – 30 max / 15 min points;
3. Final modular test – 10 max / 6 min points.
Final assessment: exam. It is mandatory to pass the exam to complete practical tasks, oral answers and perform three modular tests. Applicants who have scored a total of fewer points than the critical minimum – 36 points – are not allowed to take the exam.
