Prerequisites and co-requisites
1.Know: the essence of the basic concepts of social work and social pedagogy; the content and technology of social counseling; key approaches to inclusion; socio-psychological characteristics of different client groups and the specifics of their social counseling.
2.Be able to: analyze the needs and difficulties of clients who are in different life situations; navigate the system of social services and community resources; adhere to the ethical principles of professional activity in the field of social work.
Possess: elementary interpersonal communication skills, active listening, empathy, and reflection skills regarding one's own professional position.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to enable higher education students to master the theoretical and methodological principles and practical tools of working with various client groups in an inclusive context; to develop the ability to effectively provide social support to clients, taking into account their individual needs, difficulties and resources.
The subject of the academic discipline is a system of scientific knowledge, basic concepts, principles, values and professional approaches to social work, which determine the content, directions and features of social counseling and inclusive practices in working with various categories of clients. The discipline consists of two parts. The first part reveals the theoretical and methodological principles of social counseling and inclusion. The second part is devoted to the practical aspects of social counseling and inclusion.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lecture, seminar, cases, independent work, discussion, presentation.
Assessment methods and criteria
Assessment of applicants is carried out during all types of training sessions and based on the results of independent work.
1. Oral answers (speech at a seminar, participation in discussions, debates, additions): – 20 max / 12 min points.
2. Performance of practical work (demonstration of practical skills, work in subgroups, analysis of primary sources, presentation) – 20 max / 12 min points.
Final modular test work – 10 max / 20 min points.
Final assessment: exam. It is mandatory to pass the exam to complete practical tasks, oral answers and complete three modular tests. Applicants who have scored a total of fewer points than the critical calculation minimum – 36 points – are not allowed to take the exam.
Rating correspondence scale:
- excellent (90-100 points)
- good (75-89 points)
- satisfactory (60-74 points)
- unsatisfactory (1-59 points)
