Prerequisites and co-requisites
Knowledge of foundational theories in the field of social work, the basics of management psychology, sociological interpretations of the concepts of “institutionalization” and social institutions, as well as regulatory and legal documents governing the activities of institutions in the social sphere.
Course content
The course is designed to develop a comprehensive understanding of the essence and specific features of leadership and management in social organizations based on the principles of social justice, human dignity, and human rights. The course develops skills in effective, ethical, and responsible leadership, while also fostering the potential of social workers as agents of change capable of implementing leadership strategies aimed at transforming the social environment.
The first module is devoted to the study of general approaches to understanding the concept of a “social organization” and existing models that correspond to the objectives of social capital development.
The second module explores contemporary theories of leadership adapted to the field of social services and covers issues related to goal-setting procedures, strategic organizational planning, and the definition of mission and operating principles.
The third module focuses students’ attention on understanding leadership styles and their impact on team dynamics and effectiveness, the specifics of team formation within organizations, and the implementation of the principles of inclusivity and diversity.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lecture, seminar, analysis of primary sources, presentation, demonstration of skills, test assignments, case method.
Assessment methods and criteria
Oral responses (seminar presentations, participation in discussions and debates, additional contributions): – 10 max / 4 min points.
Completion of practical assignments (case study analysis, demonstration of practical skills, educational tests, analysis of primary sources): – 20 max / 12 min points.
Module assessment tests (MA1, MA2, MA3): – 30 max / 20 min points.
Final assessment: examination.
Conditions for admission to the examination. Completion of practical assignments, oral responses, and three module assessment tests is mandatory for admission to the examination. Students who score less than the minimum required threshold of 36 points in total during the semester are not admitted to the examination.
The examination is conducted in written form. The maximum number of points for the examination is 40.
The maximum number of points that may be earned during the semester is 60, while the minimum number required is 36.
