Learning outcomes
PLO3. Identify, formulate and solve tasks in the field of social work, integrating theoretical knowledge and practical experience.
PLO4. Formulate own well-founded judgments based on the analysis of a social problem.
PLO5. Theoretically justify ways to overcome problems and difficult life circumstances, choose effective methods of their resolution, anticipate consequences.
PLO7. Use specialised software in the course of solving professional tasks, including at the stage of early intervention.
PLO13. Use methods of social diagnostics in the process of assessing problems, needs, specific characteristics and resources of clients.
PLO15. Make practical decisions to improve social welfare and enhance social security.
PLO17. Establish and maintain relationships with clients on the basis of mutual trust and in accordance with the ethical principles and standards of social work, provide them with psychosocial support and empower clients.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Knowledge:
to understand approaches to the concept of the family in the theory and practice of social work;
to know the classification of family types, their functions and stages of the life cycle, as well as key contemporary family issues and factors contributing to family dysfunction;
to understand the content of contemporary research on family culture and the evolution of values in social work with families;
to know the objectives and content of family social support interventions, including the structuring of the social support process.
Skills:
to identify types of families in need of social work support;
to assess the needs of children and their families for social services;
to select and apply appropriate forms and methods of social work in accordance with the needs and problems of families within the framework of social support.
Course content
The family is important for the stability and development of society as a whole. Therefore, with the current changes, the structure of modern families is changing, which sometimes experience some difficulties in the hierarchical construction of new values or roles. Family members cannot always cope with the obstacles that arise in the process of starting a family. Under such conditions, she should have access to appropriate social assistance and support organized by social professionals.
The purpose - is to master the knowledge of the forms of manifestations, causes and ways to overcome the social ills of the family, the activities of a social work specialist to prevent it, mastering basic professional skills in working with families.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, seminars, individual work
Assessment methods and criteria
Assessment methods: creative and reproductive tasks for individual work; preparation of reports, seminars and practical assignments; modular test work; final assessment in the form of an exam.
The form of final control is an exam.
The final grade for the discipline consists of 100 points: 60 points for the module and grades for the exam (40 points). A student cannot take the final test if he scored less than 36 points during the semester, and the grade for the exam cannot be less than 24 points.
Organization of assessment: the order of organization of the forms of assessment provided by the working curriculum is carried out during the semester during students' creative and reproductive tasks on independent work, preparation of reports, practical tasks, a compilation of modular tests at the end of the discipline and final exam tasks.
