Learning outcomes
PLO4. Formulate one’s own reasoned judgments based on the analysis of a social problem.
PLO11. Use preventive methods to prevent possible deviations in mental development, behavioural disorders, interpersonal relationships, to resolve conflicts, prevent social risks and difficult life circumstances.
PLO14. Independently determine those circumstances in which social assistance is required.
PLO16. Apply management methods to organise one’s own professional activities and to manage the activities of social workers, volunteers and other staff.
PLO18. Establish cooperation with representatives of various professional groups and communities; use strategies for individual and collective representation of clients’ interests.
PLO23. Design the process and outcome of social work within the set tasks, use quantitative and qualitative indicators, adjust the work plan according to the evaluation results.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Know:
fundamentals of social work in healthcare and public health;
principles of prevention and support for vulnerable groups;
intersectoral collaboration within the healthcare system.
Be able to:
plan and implement preventive and social interventions;
conduct basic needs assessments of patients and communities;
apply interdisciplinary approaches when working with different groups.
Communication skills:
effectively interact with patients/clients, colleagues, and social services;
clearly and convincingly communicate proposals on prevention and support.
Autonomy:
make independent decisions regarding the organization of social work;
responsibly evaluate the results of one’s own activities and adapt actions accordingly.
Course content
The course explores the theoretical and practical foundations of social work in the healthcare sector, including issues of public health, disease prevention, promotion of healthy lifestyles, and ensuring access to services. Particular attention is paid to supporting vulnerable groups, analyzing current challenges, and the role of interdisciplinary collaboration within the healthcare system.
Course objective: to develop a comprehensive understanding among students of the role and functions of social work in healthcare and public health, as well as to build skills in preventive activities, support for vulnerable groups, and intersectoral collaboration.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, seminars, individual work
Assessment methods and criteria
Assessment methods: practical tasks for independent work; preparation of reports, seminar and practical assignments; module test; final assessment in the form of a pass/fail credit.
Final assessment format: pass/fail (credit).
The final grade for the course is based on a 100-point scale: 60 points for the module and 40 points for the final credit. A student is not admitted to the final assessment if they score less than 36 points during the semester. The credit score cannot be less than 24 points.
Assessment organization:
The organization of assessment, as предусмотрено in the course syllabus, is carried out throughout the semester during students’ independent work, preparation of seminar and practical assignments, completion of the module test at the end of the course, and final performance during the credit assessment.
Grading scale:
«Passed» – 60-100
«Fail» – 0-59
