PR.03 Be able to calculate the composition of nutrient media, determine the features of their preparation and sterilization, carry out quality control of raw materials and finished products based on knowledge of the physicochemical properties of organic and inorganic substances. PR.08 Be able to isolate microorganisms of different systematic groups from natural substrates. Determine the morphological, cultural and physiological and biochemical properties of various biological agents. PR.24 Be able to apply modern methods and approaches to the creation of recombinant molecules and manipulation of cells of various origins to create biotechnological products.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastery of the scientific, theoretical and practical material of the academic disciplines taught to students of the "Bachelor" educational level: "Microbiology", "Biochemistry", "Cell Biology", "Bioorganic Chemistry", "Fundamentals of Molecular Biotechnology", "Processes and Devices of Biotechnological Production". 2. The ability to make independent decisions based on knowledge of the theoretical foundations of general microbiology, biochemistry and mathematics, to participate in debates and competently justify one's point of view. 3. Possess elementary skills in studying scientific literature, solving problems, analyzing the results obtained, working with materials and equipment used in a biological laboratory, basic skills in working with a bright field microscope.
Course content
The discipline is devoted to the study of traditional microbiological productions and biotechnology using microorganisms: fermentation technology, production of feed protein, enzymes, organic acids, solvents, vaccines, probiotics, preparations that increase soil fertility. It reveals microbiological methods of combating pests and plant diseases and leaching of metals from ores, wastewater treatment and biogas production. Attention is paid to the issues of using and storing producer strains, genetically modified microorganisms, and sanitary requirements for microbiological and pharmaceutical productions.
