Learning outcomes
To know the conceptual framework, methodology and theories of foreign direct investment. To know the sources of theories of foreign direct investment and multinational enterprises. To know the directions, stages of development of FDI theory and MNE, classification and typology of concepts. To know theories of market power, monopolistic advantages. To know the features of macroeconomic theories of direct investment. To know the formation of the economic school of internalization and the theory of transaction costs. To know the nature of product life cycle theory and competitive advantage. To know the peculiarities of the development of the theory of oligopolistic reaction. To know the peculiarities of the development of Uppsala's FDI model. To know the nature of the eclectic theory of foreign direct investment. Know the characteristics and categories of resource theory of foreign direct investment.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Understand the theoretical and practical aspects of multinational enterprises' operations in international markets, as well as the key trends in their development under current conditions.
2. Be able to analyze the causes and consequences of contemporary trends regarding the operations of multinational enterprises in international markets.
3. Possess the necessary skills to locate and analyze regulatory documents, analytical materials, and statistical data sources.
4. Have knowledge of English or other foreign languages to better access the legal and regulatory acts governing the operations of multinational enterprises in international markets.
Course content
The aim of the course is to introduce the theoretical foundations and practical aspects of multinational enterprises' operations in international markets; to examine the nature, forms, and current trends of these operations, as well as the principles of their regulation; to acquire knowledge of key international business theories and the ability to apply them in practice; to study the primary strategies, methods, and tools used by multinational enterprises in international markets; to gain insight into the specifics of their investment activities in financial markets; and to develop skills in evaluating the performance of multinational enterprises and formulating investment proposals. Developing the ability to solve business cases plays a crucial role in mastering the course.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lecture, seminar, independent study. Modular assessment (test), presentations during seminars. Case study presentations.
Assessment methods and criteria
1. Oral responses, business cases: 30 points (50%).
2. Completion of individual independent work: 10 points (30%).
3. Module test (test). Learning outcomes 1.1–1.8, 2.1–2.4: 20 points (20%).
4. Exam paper (combined test): 40 points (20%).
