Prerequisites and co-requisites
The program is based on the fact that English language learning in higher education begins with a minimum sufficient threshold level B1 according to the CEFR and ends with a final oral and written exam, oriented in its requirements to the level of an independent user (B1+/StrongThreshold) at the end of the 2nd semester.
Course content
The discipline "Foreign Language" is a component of the cycle of mandatory disciplines of the educational and professional program "Biology" of the first level of higher education for the preparation of bachelors in the specialty E1 "Biology and Biochemistry". The discipline is a mandatory educational discipline designed to form the ability to communicate in a foreign language and apply knowledge in practical situations.The implementation of the goal of the discipline "Foreign Language" is the result of a complex interaction of four components: 1) English-language communicative competence involves the development of skills and abilities in the main types of speech activity, covering reception, production, interaction and mediation in both written and oral forms; 2) sociocultural competence concerns the skills of applying a set of sociolinguistic, country studies and intercultural knowledge to achieve understanding between representatives of different societies; 3) pragmatic competence is associated with the functional use of linguistic means;4) professionally oriented communicative competence is the ability to use students' existing professional skills and knowledge to solve general professional tasks in English
