1. Know: have knowledge of the history of world and Ukrainian education (within the framework of the program of complete general secondary education).
2. be able to: identify, analyze, compare information of a historical and cultural nature; analyze their own abilities, inclinations, interests;
3. Possess elementary skills: the study of a scientific text, the systematization of materials necessary for work, the effective organization of their own educational activities.
Course content
The discipline acquaints first-year students with the basic principles, leading trends in development and stages of formation of higher, in particular university, education in Ukraine and the world. Analysis and objective assessment of the causes and main historical prerequisites for the emergence of universities in the world are proposed. The peculiarities of the influence of world university traditions on the formation of the Ukrainian educational system, the history of the formation of the Ukrainian system of university education, the stages of creation and development of Kyiv University are described. The historical processes that influenced Kyiv University during its existence are described.
Students will learn about the life, creative activity and scientific heritage of outstanding domestic philologists, the role and place of the philologist in modern society, the organization of the educational process and the independent work of a philological student at the university.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course provides the following forms of organization of training: lectures conducted using interactive teaching methods, and independent work. The main types of work and, accordingly, the objects of semester control are: testing / express survey, participation in the discussion, performance of independent tasks, presentations / case projects. Detailed planned educational activities and teaching methods are presented in the working program of the discipline, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
Assessment methods and criteria
Knowledge control is carried out according to the ECTS system, which provides for a two-level assessment of the learned material, in particular theoretical training, which is 40% of the total assessment, and practical training, which is 60% of the total assessment. The semester number of points is formed by the points received by the student for classroom work and for independent work; As a result: in the maximum dimension of 100 points, in the minimum dimension 60 points. The discipline ends with a getting the credit, which is set based on the results of the student's work throughout the semester and does not provide for additional assessment measures. Evaluation criteria are presented in the working program of the discipline, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
