PLO 2. Work effectively with information by selecting relevant data from various sources, including scholarly literature and electronic databases, and critically analyzing, interpreting, organizing, classifying, and systematizing it. Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful completion of both theoretical and practical courses, including Introduction to Spanish Philology, Theoretical and Practical Phonetics, Area Studies of the Francophone World, French Lexicology, Practical and Theoretical Grammar, History of the French Language, and French Stylistics.
Course content
The State Examination is designed to assess the knowledge and skills acquired by students during their Bachelor’s studies. Students are expected to demonstrate a solid command of linguistic and translation studies terminology, an understanding of the structure of the French language, and the ability to analyze linguistic phenomena in accordance with contemporary scholarly approaches. They should have a clear understanding of the systemic organization of French, proficiency in methods of linguistic analysis, and well-developed skills in linguo-stylistic text analysis, as well as a high level of oral proficiency. Students are expected to command French vocabulary, norms, and usage, communicate fluently, argue their viewpoints, and produce texts across different styles. The examination also assesses knowledge of translation strategies and transformations, as well as the ability to analyze translations, compare them with the source text, interpret linguistic phenomena, and produce summaries and abstracts of texts from various genres.

The structure of the examination ticket for the Comprehensive Final Examination in the Major reflects the integrative nature of the assessment and consists of three tasks aimed at evaluating students’ ability to communicate in French and to apply theoretical knowledge in the interpretation of linguistic phenomena in an authentic Francophone text. Each examination ticket includes three components: A literature question, designed to assess knowledge of French literature and the ability to analyze literary processes; A linguo-stylistic analysis of a Francophone text, which has an applied focus and evaluates the ability to apply theoretical knowledge in text analysis; An oral topic, which is practical in nature and aims to assess the student’s proficiency in French, as well as their linguistic and communicative competence.
Assessment methods and criteria
Assessment criteria: The maximum total score is 100 points. The maximum and minimum scores for each component of the examination ticket are as follows: Question 1: maximum – 30 points; minimum – 20 points Question 2: maximum – 30 points; minimum – 20 points Question 3: maximum – 40 points; minimum – 20 points
