PLO 8. Demonstrate understanding of the language system, the general properties of literature as an art of the word, and the history of the French language and literature, and apply this knowledge in professional contexts. PLO 13. Analyze and interpret works of Ukrainian and world literature, as well as oral folklore, determining their specificity and their place within the French literary process. PLO 15. Conduct linguistic, literary, and specialized philological analysis of texts across a range of styles and genres. PLO 16. Prerequisites and co-requisites
Demonstrate knowledge of the main characteristics of ancient and medieval literature, as well as French literature from the 17th to the 21st centuries, and possess essential factual knowledge in the humanities. Be able to situate each literary and artistic period within the overall development of world literature; characterize the specificity of particular cultural and artistic epochs; analyze key works within the context of an author’s oeuvre; identify and examine plots, characters, and motifs; plan and evaluate one’s own work; and effectively use interactive and multimedia tools.
Course content
The course "Francophone Literature of the 21st Century" is a compulsory component for students majoring in 035 “Philology” (Romance languages, with French as the first language) at the Bachelor’s level. It is taught in the fifth semester (3 ECTS credits: 34 hours of lectures, 14 hours of seminars, and 56 hours of independent study; 2 hours per week). The final assessment is an exam. The course focuses on the patterns of development and the artistic features of 21st-century Francophone literature. It provides a comprehensive understanding of the contemporary Francophone literary process, including knowledge of major movements, styles, genres, and key concepts, as well as skills in textual analysis using cultural-historical, hermeneutic, intertextual, and comparative approaches.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
In-class work integrates and builds on students’ independent study of theoretical material in preparation for classroom activities, including oral responses, supplementary contributions, tests, and presentations.
Assessment methods and criteria
Lectures and seminars are conducted throughout the semester, with assessment based on the specified types of tasks and forms of control. Students who score below the minimum threshold of 36 points are not admitted to the final exam. For those who do not reach the required minimum during the semester, a final semester test is administered at the end of the course, consisting of both theoretical and practical tasks. The maximum score for additional forms of assessment may not exceed 40% of the total semester grade (24 points). The final course grade is calculated from the points earned during the semester and the exam results, with the following distribution: 60 points (60%) for continuous assessment and 40 points (40%) for the final exam.
