Course content
The comprehensive course «Translation (Turkish) Part 5. Stylistic Features of Translation (Eastern Languages)» is one of the key components of the comprehensive training of students pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in the specialty 035.068 «Philology (Eastern Languages and Literatures, including translation), with Turkish as the primary language». The course aims to develop and foster in students the skills and abilities to correctly apply linguistic and stylistic means in various types of speech activity and in different communicative situations; to develop skills and abilities in interpreting linguistic phenomena at various levels that convey additional, connotative information, as well as logical, emotional, aesthetic, and other characteristics; to reveal implicit information, as well as to develop students’ skills and abilities to understand the deeper ideological and artistic meaning, to analyze a text as a single artistic whole - that is, to compare and account for the interaction of all means of artistic representation within the text or work.
The course is taught in the seventh semester and consists of 60 hours, including 20 hours of practical work and 40 hours of independent study. The course is based on two content modules and two final exams. The course concludes with a mid-term assessment.
