PLO 1. To communicate freely on professional matters with both specialists and non-specialists in the state and foreign languages, both orally and in writing, and to use them for organizing effective intercultural communication. PLO 8. To know and understand the systems of Ancient Greek, Latin, and a foreign language, the general properties of literature as an art of the word, and the history of Ancient Greek and Latin languages and literatures; to be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities. PLO 11. To know the principles, technologies, and techniques for creating oral and written texts of various genres and styles in the state, classical, and foreign languages. PLO 14. To use a foreign language in oral and written forms, across various genre-stylistic varieties and registers of communication (formal, informal, neutral), to resolve communicative tasks in everyday, social, educational, professional, and scientific spheres of life.

Full-time form

The student must possess fundamental knowledge from the following courses: "Ancient Greek," "History of the Ancient Greek Language," "Greek Hermeneutics," and "Historical Dialectology of Ancient Greek." The program is specifically designed for students who have no prior experience studying Modern Greek.

The core of the course consists of a theoretical and practical examination of the phonetic, morphological, and syntactic structures of the Modern Greek language from a functional perspective. The grammar and phonetics components are taught in close connection with vocabulary and are structured concentrically. The Modern Greek language system is presented comprehensively: all aspects of the language are studied in parallel with the development of speech skills and abilities. Mastery of the language structure occurs within typical communicative contexts and across the primary modes of language activity (listening, speaking, reading, and writing). The course is divided into three substantive parts: 1) Reading and writing, and pronunciation training; 2) Active vocabulary acquisition and mastery of basic grammar; 3) Correct language usage in various communicative situations.

Oral response; written work (exercises, test, vocabulary dictation, reproduction); creative or research assignment in the form of a presentation (preparation and defense); final control paper.

Assessment is based on a 100-point scale (60 points for semester work and 40 for the exam). Evaluation criteria include oral responses, written assignments (exercises, dictations, tests), presentation preparation and defense, and control papers. Maximum scores are awarded for fluent mastery of the material, profound topic coverage using academic literature, and high technical quality of work. Tests and open-ended tasks require over 60% accuracy to be credited. The semester grade reflects both in-class and independent activities. Missed classes must be made up in writing. The 8th-semester exam includes a written part (lexical-grammar tests and translation into Ukrainian) and an oral part (thematic dialogue and translation into Modern Greek). A minimum of 24 points is required to pass the exam. The total passing grade for the course is at least 60 points.
