Prerequisites and co-requisites
Requirements for Students’ Knowledge and Skills
Linguistic Foundation: Mastery of terminology and an understanding of the functions of grammatical categories, phonetics, and vocabulary in the Persian language to construct correct sentences.
History of the Language: Knowledge of the diachronic development of the language, and the ability to identify obsolete words and archaic grammatical constructions.
Stylistics and registers: Understanding the difference between written and spoken language. Ability to use the Tehran dialect in conversational practice and to adhere to the appropriate style in various communication situations.
Literary studies: Knowledge of the periodization of Persian literature, genres, and styles (according to Iranian and European traditions). Ability to analyze literary works.
Translation skills: Mastery of linguistic analysis methods, techniques, and transformations for high-quality translation while preserving the original’s style.
Course content
The exam covers the subject matter and theoretical concepts of the academic courses included in the curriculum. It is a comprehensive exam that covers material from linguistics, literary studies, and translation studies.

Assessment methods and criteria
The maximum number of points a graduate can earn is 100. The maximum and minimum possible points for each theoretical question on the exam: maximum points – 25; minimum points – 15. The maximum score for both translation tasks is 30, the minimum is 20; the maximum score for the “Conversation Topic” task is 20 points, the minimum is 10 points.
