Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastery of theoretical and practical courses of the Ukrainian language taught during the I-VI semesters of study (“Practical Grammar of the Ukrainian Language”, “Practical Phonetics of the Ukrainian Language”, “Oral Speech”, “Written Speech”, “Annotated Reading of Scientific Texts”, “Practical Course of the Ukrainian Language”, “Modern Ukrainian Language (Lexicology. Phraseology. Lexicography. Word Creation. Morphology)”, “Introduction to Translation Studies”; “Practice of Written and Oral Translation” (taught in previous semesters). 2. Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of linguistics, skills of written and oral translation from the native language into Ukrainian.
Course content
The discipline provides an idea of translation as a dynamic process of parallel speech transmission of original statements in written and oral forms, generalizes information about translation models, strategies and techniques for adequate transmission of textual information from one language to another. It consolidates and updates knowledge about the systemic organization of the modern Ukrainian language, examines units and phenomena of the Ukrainian language in comparison with units and phenomena of the student's native language. The discipline is also aimed at activating speech activity, developing practical skills in written and oral translation, necessary in communicative situations in various conditions and spheres of communication, offers ways to overcome the main problems of oral and written translation, develops elementary editing skills. In general, the discipline improves the communicative and translation competencies of a philologist and contributes to the qualified linguistic training of a future teacher and translator.

Oral responses in practical classes, oral translation, participation in discussions, current and independent written work, collection and/or analysis of information on the topic, pre-translation analysis of the text, editing of the translated text and analysis of the translation.

Criteria for evaluating oral responses (including during pre-translation analysis, analysis/editing of the translated text, criteria for evaluating oral and written translations from 1 to 5 points, as well as the final assessment in the discipline program.
