Learning outcomes
LO2. Demonstrate proficiency in the national and foreign languages for written and oral communication, particularly in professional and academic contexts; present research findings in the national and foreign languages. LO6. Apply knowledge of expressive, emotional, and logical language tools and speech techniques to achieve a planned pragmatic outcome and facilitate successful communication. LO10. Collect and systematize linguistic, literary, and folkloric facts; interpret and translate Crimean Tatar- and English-language texts of various styles and genres. LO14. Create, analyze, and edit texts of various styles and genres. LO28.2 Perform oral and written translation to ensure specialized translation from Crimean Tatar and Turkish into Ukrainian and vice versa in various professional fields.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Know: 1) the history of translation and its classification; 2) the main translation strategies and the meaning of key concepts in various models. Be able to: 1) perform stylistic and syntactic analysis of various types of texts; 2) use dictionaries and online resources during the translation process. Possess: 1) skills in combining various translation strategies; 2) the ability to prepare texts of various styles for translation, including conducting appropriate analysis at the morphological, lexical, and syntactic levels; 3) the ability to search for appropriate lexical and stylistic material necessary for translation; 4) the basics of reviewing and adapting translated language material.
Course content
The course «Interpreting and Translation (Turkish)» is listed among the elective courses in the «Translation Studies» module and is taught in the third semester of the master’s program, in accordance with the curriculum of the educational and research program «Crimean Tatar Philology, English Language and Translation». The course is an integral part of developing the professional competence of future translators and specialists in the field of philology and translation, aimed at an in-depth study of practical methodology, areas of focus, and methods of practical work in the field of translation, as well as the development of professional competence in future translators. Throughout the course, students explore a range of approaches that future professional translators will apply during consecutive interpreting; various aspects of the translation process are examined; and modern methods of written translation are studied using texts in contemporary Turkish across various genres. The course is taught in the form of practical sessions in Ukrainian and Turkish. It is offered in the first semester of the second year of the master’s program and concludes with an exam at the end of the course.

Assessment methods and criteria
Assessment is conducted according to the ECTS system, which provides for a two-tier evaluation of the material covered, specifically an assessment of theoretical knowledge, accounting for 40% of the total grade, and an assessment of practical skills, accounting for 60% of the total grade: 1. Oral translation: 12–20 points. 2. Written translation using dictionaries and online resources: 4–12 points. 3. Module test: 14–20 points. 4. Independent work on adapting and editing the translated text: 5–8 points. 5. Exam: 24–40 points.
