PLO 27. To demonstrate grammatical accuracy, lexical range, and sociolinguistic appropriateness in one’s own speech; have a command of contemporary lexical, grammatical, phonetic, orthographic, and punctuation norms of the English language to facilitate professional and interpersonal communication in both spoken and written contexts; construct a stylistically accomplished text in a specific style. PLO 28. To choose methods and techniques of teaching a foreign language, control students' academic achievements according to the goals and objectives of the educational process; evaluate educational materials and adapt them to the specific educational context, create educational and methodological support for conducting lessons in foreign language. Full-time form

Knowledge: communicative strategies of English-speaking business and academic discourse, modern technologies for teaching English in high school, grammatical and linguistic stylistic features of English in fiction and journalistic style, grammatical, linguistic and stylistic peculiarities of English for specific purposes. Skills: to apply communicative strategies of English in business and academic discourse, English in fiction and journalistic style, professional orientation, to apply technologies, approaches, methods, principles, means (including electronic) for teaching English in high school.

The purpose of the complex final exam is to assess the learning outcomes that students are expected to achieve whilst studying the English language and the methods of teaching English language at secondary school. The complex final exam in the English language and the methods of teaching the English language at secondary schools is designed to assess students’ proficiency in English and their knowledge of the English language teaching methodology in secondary school in order to to determine their readiness to teach English in school.

The complex final exam consists of two content parts: 1) the English language, 2) methodology of teaching Englis in high specialized school.

The structure of the exam paper is defined by various types of theoretical and practical tasks according to the thematic blocks mentioned above: two questions on the English language, two questions on the methodology of teaching the English language in theory and practice. According to the structure of the exam paper, each type of task is assessed with a clearly defined number of points, which in total comprises a maximum of 100 points. The evaluation criteria are presented in the program of the complex final exam, posted on the website of the Educational-Scientific Institute of Philology at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.
