PLO1. Demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge of psychology, pedagogy, and fundamental and applied sciences (relevant to the subject specialisation) in practical educational contexts, while deepening understanding of the subject area. Prerequisites and co-requisites
Knowledge: • understand the theoretical foundations of teaching philological and methodological disciplines that comprise the student’s field of study, including learning objectives, content, approaches, methods and techniques, teaching aids, and forms of organisation of the learning process; • be familiar with the forms, methods, and tools for assessing students’ academic performance; understand the theoretical principles of the disciplines that make up the student’s specialisation. Skills: • effectively plan and structure the learning process in philological and methodological disciplines according to the objectives and conditions of instruction; • apply modern teaching methods and technologies in philological and methodological disciplines, including tools for diagnosing students’ knowledge, skills, and competencies; • select appropriate linguistic or literary material, teaching techniques, and instructional resources for the student’s field of study.
Course content
The aim of the Teaching Assistantship Placement is to provide high-quality preparation for professional pedagogical practice, including mastery of modern teaching methods, practical techniques for conducting various types of classes, and educational activities. It is designed to develop students’ ability and readiness to plan, organise, implement, and manage the teaching process in philological and methodological disciplines. The placement also promotes the development of professional self-awareness, communication culture, and the theoretical, practical, and personal-motivational components of students’ professional competence. Additionally, it enables students to acquire practical teaching skills and to develop their own creative teaching style.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The Teaching Assistantship Placement includes the following types of activities: attendance at and analysis of lecturers’ classes; delivery of trial classes using modern educational technologies; delivery of lectures and practical/seminar classes; assessed classes and corresponding lesson plans; preparation of assessment materials and administration of assessment tasks; preparation of a methodological framework for organising students’ independent work, including extracurricular (educational) activities; participation in departmental activities; final assessment of the placement (graded pass).
Assessment methods and criteria
The assessment for the Teaching Assistantship Placement is based on points awarded for all types of activities required as part of the placement, including: attendance at and analysis of lecturers’ classes (max. 6, min. 3); delivery of trial classes using modern educational technologies (15/6); delivery of practical and seminar classes (17/14); assessed classes and corresponding lesson plans (6/4); preparation of assessment materials and administration of assessment tasks (max. 6, min. 3); preparation of a methodological framework for organising students’ independent work, including extracurricular (educational) activities (5/3); participation in departmental activities (5/3); and the final assessment of the placement (graded pass) (40/24). The maximum total score for the Teaching Assistantship Placement is 100 points, with a minimum passing score of 60 points.
