Learning outcomes
PLO 12. To analyze linguistic units, determine their interaction, and characterize the linguistic phenomena and processes that underlie them.
PLO 17. To collect, analyze, systematize, and interpret facts of language and speech, applying them to solve complex tasks and problems within specialized areas of professional activity and/or study.
PLO 20. To demonstrate knowledge of the Greco-Latin substrate of modern scientific terminology, possess the metalanguage of scientific description, and utilize it in professional communication contexts.
PLO 22. To understand the role and place of classical languages and literatures within the European linguo-cultural space, and their significance in the development strategies of the modern scientific paradigm and contemporary civilization.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1) Successful completion of the following academic disciplines: "Introduction to Classical Philology," "Latin," and "Ancient Greek";
2) Knowledge of general terminology and the fundamentals of Latin and Ancient Greek grammar (specifically morphology and word formation);
3) Proficiency in basic skills for analyzing and interpreting the word-formative and syntactic models of Ancient Greek and Latin nouns.
Course content
The discipline is designed to familiarize students with the history of Greco-Latin scientific names in the fields of biology and medicine; identify key trends in the development of natural sciences and the pivotal role of classical languages in the formation of biomedical terminology and nomenclature; examine methods of terminological nomination, principles of organization, and ways to enhance the metalanguage of the natural sciences.

Assessment methods and criteria
The student assessment system is based on a combination of various assignments designed to cover the program learning outcomes. Evaluation is conducted through the following forms of control: oral responses (max. 25 points), contributions and participation in discussions (max. 15 points), an open-ended test (max. 10 points), independent study in the form of a paper or presentation (max. 20 points), and a final control work (max. 30 points). The total semester grade is composed of points earned by the student for consistent performance throughout the term. This includes the mastery of material across all thematic modules, as well as the completion of independent assignments and tests, inclusive of the final assessment. Interim control points are awarded based on the student's ongoing performance and do not require additional examination procedures. The cumulative total for all types of work during the semester is:
