Learning outcomes
LO6. Apply knowledge of expressive, emotional, and logical linguistic devices and speech techniques to achieve a planned pragmatic outcome and facilitate successful communication. LO8. Evaluate the historical legacy and recent developments in literary studies. LO10. Collect and systematize linguistic, literary, and folkloric facts; interpret and translate Turkish and English texts of various styles and genres. LO11. Conduct scholarly analysis of linguistic and literary material, interpret and structure it in accordance with appropriate methodological principles, and formulate generalizations based on independently processed data. LO15. Select optimal research approaches and methods for analyzing specific linguistic or literary material.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Knowledge: - successful mastery of specialized courses during the first year of the master’s program; - knowledge of basic literary terms; - knowledge of the periodization of Turkish literature; - understanding of the historical and social contexts of literature from the preceding era. Be able to: - apply basic and professionally oriented knowledge of the fundamentals of philology, history, sociology, and cultural studies; - apply acquired knowledge in practice. Possess basic skills - in cognitive and professional activities; - in the culture of thinking and its general principles.
Course content
This course develops students’ analytical thinking skills and their ability to interpret literary works within various contexts (including historical, social, generational, and others). The course fosters a comprehensive approach to literary interpretation that takes into account historical, cultural, social, and generational contexts. The course’s methodological tools allow students to comprehensively analyze the patterns of the literary process during the period under study and trace the transformation of fundamental artistic concepts within a global context. The course “Turkish Literature and Folklore in the Context of Contemporary Literary Trends” is an educational component of the core block of disciplines in the educational and research program for training specialists at the “Master’s” level, field of knowledge 03 “Humanities,” in the field of study 035 “Philology,” cluster “Eastern Languages and Literatures (including translation), first—Turkish).” The course program consists of 2 content modules. Classes are conducted in the form of lectures and seminars. The course concludes with a final exam in the fourth semester.

Assessment methods and criteria
Assessment is conducted according to the ECTS system, which provides for a two-tier evaluation of the material covered; specifically, the evaluation of theoretical knowledge accounts for 40% of the total grade, and the evaluation of practical skills accounts for 60% of the total grade: 1. Participation in seminars (oral responses): 3–5 points. 2. Oral commentary and analysis of literary works in a group and independently: 0.5–2 points. 3. Module exam: 9–20 points. 4. Written analysis of a literary work and presentation of research: 9–18 points. 5. Final exam: 12–20 points.
