Learning outcomes
LLO 12. Analyze linguistic units, identify their interactions, and characterize the linguistic phenomena and processes that underlie them, using techniques of linguistic influence (argumentation, manipulation, suggestion).
LLO 16. Know and understand the basic concepts, theories, and concepts of the chosen philological specialization (primarily in linguistics of influence and translation studies), and be able to apply them in professional practice.
LLO 7. Collect, analyze, systematize, and interpret facts about language and speech, and use them to solve complex tasks and problems in specialized areas of professional activity related to the development of linguistic tools for identification, analysis, and the formation of relevant narratives, as well as translation techniques for interpreting and commenting on multilingual texts.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Students must successfully complete the following courses: “Introduction to Linguistics,” “Theoretical and Practical Course in the Ukrainian Language,” and “English”
and be familiar with:
● basic linguistic concepts;
● the principles of analyzing linguistic data;
● the characteristics of how linguistic units at all levels of the Ukrainian language function;
● the fundamentals of communication theory and influence theory;
be able to:
● apply linguistic tools in practice;
● use skills in experimental research of linguistic data
possess basic skills in
● selecting, analyzing, and interpreting linguistic data;
● communicating on linguistic topics.
Course content
This course is devoted to the study of pragmatical aspects of modern linguistics. The course provides a description of the strategies and tactics of modern speech communication. It examines the processes of speech planning and control. Based on an analysis of linguistic interaction, it develops linguistic-methodological principles for teaching communicative strategies and tactics in the context of intercultural communication.
The course serves as a theoretical introduction to the study of the theory of linguistic communication, the foundation upon which the professional training of applied linguists in particular is based.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course includes lectures and practical sessions that utilize interactive teaching methods.
Throughout the semester, lectures on relevant topics feature discussions and debates, during which students are assessed in accordance with the types of assignments and forms of assessment specified in the syllabus. Students receive assignments, which they submit to the instructor. Students present and defend their presentations no later than the last week of lectures.
In practical sessions, students conduct independent analysis of linguistic material from an anthropological perspective.
Assessment methods and criteria
Oral response during a practical session – maximum 10 points, minimum 5;
Contributions and participation in discussions during lectures – maximum 20 points, minimum 10;
Completion and presentation of an independent creative project – maximum 30 points, minimum 21.
